Maldives is a paradise for the honeymooner, sun worshiper or diver. The simple nature of its people and natural beauty have gained the nation a reputation as being one of the best destinations for a seaside holiday.

There are many things to do whilst holidaying on this captivating archipelago such as island hopping, diving at Fushifaru Thila, visiting the capital Male’, gazing at the Buddhist remains on Isdhoo and snorkelling in Maa Kandu & Kuda Kandu.

The allure of its Maldives resorts is that many, if not most of them are based on their own island, providing the guest with secluded coves, private beaches and reefs to explore. The friendly waters surrounding the resorts are shades of blue and green and the beaches kissed by the sun.

Water sports can be enjoyed through most parts of the year, and come the southwest monsoon, Maldives becomes a Mecca for surf enthusiasts. All Maldives resorts own their own water sports centre, trained instructors and offer all the equipment needed on hire.

Single and tandem kayaks are available when kayaking in Maldives. For a little added adventure as you paddle or pedal your way around the shallow waters, try a glass or peek-a-boo kayak. The glass kayaks are, of course, transparent and allows the user to see a vista of marine life swimming below. The cheaper option is the peek-a-boo kayak which has a panel of glass at the bottom.

There is a growing list of marine life that inhabit the waters of Maldives, and of the most common forms seen are angelfish, barracuda, blue lined snapper, butterfly fish, clownfish, eagle ray, grey reef sharks, long nose hawkfish, manta rays, Moorish idols, napoleon wrasses, oriental sweetlip, parrotfish, sting rays, triggerfish, whale sharks and zebra sharks. One can be sure of spotting a range of marine life with ease, such as a manta ray gliding through the waters, while kayaking in the Maldives.

Anantara Veli Maldives offers one of the best places to kayak along the Anantara Lagoon. Pedal kayaks are also available along with an excellent range of other kayaks offered by this Maldives resort. Along with their modern water sports facility, the resort offers many options of Maldives bungalows that are placed either at the edge of the shoreline or over the water.
